What's This Picture? |

It's the Bud's Broiler location on City Park Avenue and Conti St., just across from Delgado Community College. Now, why is it here on my home page? Primarily because it was one of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch. I've lived most of my life in either Metairie or Gentilly, and this Bud's is sort of in-between the two. The place got 4' of water and was closed for a couple of years, but re-opened this spring.
Bud's Broiler is a New Orleans institution. There are over ten locations, and they make one of the best hamburgers in town. Their secret is two-fold. First, they cook their food over charcoal. Yup, real back-yard charcoal. No grill-top, no gas "flame-broiling," but classic burger-cookin'. The second secret is their sauce. It's a tangy ketchup-type sauce, and it's excellent. Sadly, you can't go to this Bud's location for a burger, since it hasn't re-opened since the storm, but there are still a number of others that are back. My favorite is a #4. If you know what that one is, drop me a line and brag about your knowledge! :-)
