Marketing the BOSH Book - Laying the Groundwork

The "Crazy Crusader" goes back to the St. Aloysius days.

Starting to do a few odds-and-ends things to prepare for the book's release. Yes, it's a while off, but if I get the web infrastructure stuff set up now, it'll go smoother in the spring. To that end, I did a few basic things:

(continued after the jump)

  • Registered a domain, boshbook.com, and set up a drupal site for it.
  • Configured the website as a community where users can login with their Facebook identities.
  • Set up a Facebook "fan" page for the book.
  • Set up Amazon stuff for the streetcar book. This validates the links, and makes it easy to clone for the BOSH book.

I've been wrestling with how to publicize the book. Should I create the web presence as a subset of ebranley.com, or use a separate site? I put it to my twitter friends and got mixed opinions. I like the idea of making me the brand, but my gut tells me that the BOSH book will sell better if it's about the Institute than me. Besides, the next book will likely be another streetcar book, and I've got a solid site (canalstreetcar.com) for that.

Now that boshbook.com is established, I'll write up some articles featuring photos that didn't make the book for one reason or another, and also take a few of the photos in the book and elaborate on them beyond the captions.
