Edward’s writing status update
This will be a regular thing, hopefully weekly, to establish some organization to my fiction thoughts. I have a tendency to get all over the place on stuff, and Covid didn’t help any. So, let’s start the list baseline in this post and build on it in the future.
Projects detailed:
- Trivia – romance
- Talents 3 – continuation of magick/urban fantasy universe
- Vampires – combination of historic interludes with a murder mystery.
- Dragons 3 – continuation of Dragon’s Danger and Dragon’s Discovery.
Trivia
I’ve finally got a working title for the romance novel. Trivial Tacos is a (at this point) twelve-chapter romance novel set in contemporary New Orleans. I’m part of a small writers group we call NOLA Wiccan Writers (email me for info if that sounds interesting to you). Just emailed chapter 10 of 12 to them for review. So, finishing the final chapter is this week’s thing.
Talents 3
The third installment, following Hidden Talents and Trusted Talents. This is a story where I had the ending before the beginning. It’s got an outline and three chapters (this will go upwards of 20). Will get back to it after Tacos.
Vampires
Another story that comes from a writers group conversation now moves into the status update. One of our group is a professor who’s working on a Casket Girls/Contract Girls historical monograph. We got into a discussion of the bad vampire fiction surrounding the Ursuline Convent. I wrote a short story (will likely patron-publish it here) that’s grown out to something bigger. The structure is historical interludes interspersed between a contemporary murder procedural.
Dragon’s 3
Continuing on with The Trio of high schoolers from Dragon’s Danger and Dragon’s Discovery. YA stories of three kids from New Orleans (well, Metairie) who hatch a dragon egg and become “blood-bound” to the dragon. The first two books are set in their sophomore and junior years of high school, the third will move them forward, with new challenges for older kids who are now…gasp…driving.
I’ll be adding to this as other crazy ideas come into focus. The status update will become tied to the trello, for sure.
